The Word of the LORD Reigns Supreme over the World and Over Our Lives (Family Worship lesson in 1Kings 13:1–10)

What is God’s point in the strangeness of this event and this account of it? Pastor leads his family in today’s “Hopewell @Home” passage. 1Kings 13:1–10 looks forward to the first serial reading in morning public worship on the coming Lord’s Day. In these ten verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that even when it looks like men are reigning powerfully in their sin, Yahweh’s Word is reigning in His almighty power and perfect righteousness. So, let us have confidence in Yahweh to stand with Him before men, and commitment unto Yahweh to obey Him in the everyday choices of our life.
