Jesus Displaying Himself through Saving Sinners by Refusing to Save Himself (2021.10.15 Family Worship in Luke 23:35–46)
How can you go to Paradise? Pastor leads his family in today’s “Hopewell @Home” passage. Luke 23:35–46 prepares us for the morning sermon on the coming Lord’s Day. In these twelve verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that what the mockery in Luke’s account all had in common was “Save Yourself.” But Jesus was showing Himself to be the Christ, the Chosen One, the King, the God and Savior… precisely by not saving Himself from the cross. God, in Christ, Demonstrating His Love for His Enemies (2021.10.10 Morning Sermon in Luke 23:26–34)
Luke's account of the crucifixion focuses uniquely on the astonishing love of Jesus for His enemies—general, sympathetic love in goodness to all His enemies, and especially specific and saving love to those enemies whom He had elected in everlasting love, and for whom He was being crucified. Amazing love!(click audio title within player for a page where you can download mp3/pdf files of this sermon)

Christ's Mind in the Agony of the Cross (2021.06.23 Prayer Meeting lesson in Psalm 22:1–21)
The mind of Christ on the cross is a most precious study, which we have primarily from this Psalm. Here is both the righteousness which stands for us in His greatest act of righteousness, as well as the example that He has set for us in entrusting Himself to Him Who judges justly (cf. 1Pet 2:18–25). In Psalm 22:1–21 we see... The greatest anguish, v1–2. The greatest support, v3–5. The despisings of men, v6–8. The delightings of God, v9–11. The crucial moment, v12–18. The great deliverance: righteousness and resurrection, v19–21.
